π§ IELTS listening Test
The IELTS Listening Test is divided into Four Parts ( 1β4) , each designed to assess different listening skills through a variety of tasks. The test lasts about 30 minutes.
π Total Duration:
30 minutes (listening and answering questions while the audio plays)
+10 minutes (to transfer answers β paper-based test only)
π» In the computer-based IELTS, no extra time is provided for transferring answers. Instead, candidates are given 2 minutes at the end of the test to review their responses.
βοΈ IELTS Writing Test
The IELTS Writing Test assesses your ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English. It plays a vital role in both the Academic and General Training versions of the exam and is designed to evaluate how well you can organize ideas, present arguments, and use accurate grammar and vocabulary.
π Total Duration: 60 minutes
Task 1 (20 minutes recommended):
Academic: Describe visual data (e.g., chart, graph, table, or diagram).
General Training: Write a letter (formal, semi-formal, or informal).
Task 2 (40 minutes recommended):
Essay writing based on a given topic or argument. This task carries more weight in scoring.
π IELTS Reading Test
The IELTS Reading Test measures your ability to understand and interpret written English. It is a crucial part of both the Academic and General Training versions of the exam, with some differences in the style and difficulty of the reading materials.
π Duration: 60 minutes
You will answer 40 questions based on three reading passages or sections.
Academic Reading Test
Includes three long passages taken from books, journals, magazines, or newspapers.
Texts are often descriptive, analytical, or argumentative and are aimed at a university-level audience.
Topics are of general interest but are more academic or technical in nature.
General Training Reading Test
Includes three sections with a variety of materials such as notices, advertisements, instruction manuals, newspapers, and work-related documents.
The content focuses on everyday English and topics relevant to daily life, workplace, or general interest.
π£οΈ IELTS Speaking Test
The IELTS Speaking Test evaluates your ability to communicate verbally in English. It is a face-to-face interview conducted by a certified examiner and is the same for both the Academic and General Training versions of the exam.

The test is divided into three parts, each designed to assess different aspects of spoken English.
This calculator helps determine the overall IELTS band score based on the individual scores entered for each module: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The overall band score is calculated by taking the average of these four section scores. Each section is scored on a scale from 0 to 9, in half-band increments (e.g., 6.0, 6.5, 7.0).
To calculate the final band score, raw scores from the Listening and Reading sections are converted into band scores using official IELTS conversion tables. These sections are scored based on the number of correct answers out of 40.
